!!!WARNING!!! Killing and Eating Live Octopus!! Watch at your own risk!!!!

The warning is no shit.

The scene of the crime, a Koren restaurant in Tokyo.

Accomplices, Evan McAvoy and Michiko Toi.

I've been wanting to do this for quite some time as a part of my quest to eat the weirdest stuff on the planet, and this was it, so far.

We went for dinner first, Korean BBQ, and lots of booze.  Here are photo of that:

Raw Spicy Crab

Kimchi

Pork, Wagu Beef, Beef Tongue

And then, after we were sufficiently buzzed I asked if I could go into the kitchen to watch and film the killing of the octopus, baby octopus.

The videos are too large to upload to the blog, so here are the YouTube links...

Here you go, enjoy.....

And then we ate.....

No cooking, only sauce, if you prefer....

Neapolitan Pizza, Tokyo

Apparently there are quite a few great pizza places in Tokyo.  But I guess it makes sense that Tokyo would have EVERYTHING, and it does.

This place kicked ASS!  Real, traditional, neapolitan pizza.  Old school, the schizzle.  2 pizzas to choose from, Margherita and Marinara.  Essentially the same except the Marinara has fresh sliced garlic and no mozzarella.  No topping choices, no bullshit.  One dude making all the pies, one at a time.  Craft, perfection, meaningful.  Real.

Savoy - Tokyo

Total time in oven, about 60 seconds.  The file is too large to upload to the blog, so here is the link to YouTube.

They did have one special pizza that evening.  A cheese only, and a little olive oil.

Random Photos from Japan

Pretty self-explanatory.

Chinese Ramen with shrimp wontons.  Super great, and simple.  This is from the Chinese restaurant in my hotel, Cerulean Tower, Shibuya.  The restaurant is from Iron Chef Chen Kinichi.   Sofaking good.

Oysters, Tokyo.  Some random place.  They were huge, but not bad.  At least they were firm so you could chew.  Had they been soft I might have puked.  I rate these a thumbs up.

Deep fried.
Yummy

View from the hotel in Tamano, Diamond Setouchi Marine Hotel.

On the ferry to Naoshima.  A very famous island off the coast of Tamano City.  Some famous architect built the museums and there are famous works of art displayed as well.  But the real attraction are the buildings.  I can't really explain them well, so I won't.  And they didn't allow photography, so there are no photos, so let's just say, if you are ever in this area, check this out.

I did take a few of things on the island that I could.  So here you go.

Shinkansen, bullet train to and from Tokyo.

Sushi - Japan

I have no idea the name of this restaurant.  But I do know that we were in Tamano, South of Okayama City.

No narration as I do not know what most of this is.  But I do know that it is beautiful and delicious.

Enjoy
