OK, Here we go..... I think it only fair to start with this photo as this trip to Tokyo, and the inspiration of these two guys with me in the photo, really kicked off my interest in exploring food, photographing said eats, and sharing/explaining my impressions of my experiences. So, to you David Chang and Anthony Bourdain, Cheers, and thanks. As I begin I think it only fair to explain a bit of what my purpose with this blog is. As you know, I do not participate in Facebook, and I wont go into why here, but I NEEDED a vehicle to communicate and connect with those in my life, both near and far. As the name implies, this will primarily be a blog about pizza. However, as this is mine, I will feel free to do and say as I damn well please, as it pleases me. So I hope to not offend or tiptoe too far over the line of appropriateness, but if I do, that's just too fucken bad. Enjoy. Pizza, food, life experiences, thoughts, feelings, rants, and more food. This is what you will find here. Please feel free to share and pass along to anyone you think might have an interest, as I hope you will as well. Sincerely yours, DVA

Ramen, Tokyo Tonkotsu Noodle, Shinjuku, Japan

I woke with a hangover and I need the cure.

A Big Greasy Burrito

Sadly there are none here.  Luckily the Tokyo version of the cure works just fine.

A big bowl of spicy ramen, side of gyoza.  Greasy meaty spicy goodness in a bowl.

Let's get down and dirty shall we?

Staging area.

A terrible shot of the kitchen.

Gyoza.  Nothing special, just more filler.  They were just OK.

BAM

I agree, looks amazing.

Now those of you that know me well enough know that I despise the local San Diego ramen eatery, that will remain nameless (Underbelly).  And I despise them for many reasons, but the primary one is that the egg in their ramen is too softly boiled leaving the yoke runny.  So, you're probably thinking that I'm not digging this raw yoke thing too much.  But Ohhhhhh how wrong you would be.  I loved the taste and I loved the fact that it's just a yoke, no white.  And I also love it because it reminds me that some times I just have no idea what the fuck I'm talking about.

But I'm gonna keep talking, and eating, and rollin' on.

My belly is feeling good and that is helping my body recover from the damage I did to it last night.

Maybe I'll check out a Giants game?   Sound good?  Stay tuned....

Eat more ramen.

DVA
