OK, Here we go..... I think it only fair to start with this photo as this trip to Tokyo, and the inspiration of these two guys with me in the photo, really kicked off my interest in exploring food, photographing said eats, and sharing/explaining my impressions of my experiences. So, to you David Chang and Anthony Bourdain, Cheers, and thanks. As I begin I think it only fair to explain a bit of what my purpose with this blog is. As you know, I do not participate in Facebook, and I wont go into why here, but I NEEDED a vehicle to communicate and connect with those in my life, both near and far. As the name implies, this will primarily be a blog about pizza. However, as this is mine, I will feel free to do and say as I damn well please, as it pleases me. So I hope to not offend or tiptoe too far over the line of appropriateness, but if I do, that's just too fucken bad. Enjoy. Pizza, food, life experiences, thoughts, feelings, rants, and more food. This is what you will find here. Please feel free to share and pass along to anyone you think might have an interest, as I hope you will as well. Sincerely yours, DVA

Jack's Pizza Hyannis, My First Grinder, Cape Cod, Massachusetts, USA

https://www.jackspizzahyannis.com/

As most/some of you are aware, we've moved to Cape Cod Massachusetts.  I'm not gonna get into that story here, sorry.  What I am gonna get into is my first ever GRINDER!

Yeah yeah yeah, same as a sub, hoagie, sandwich even, all the same they say.  Well sir, maybe they're not all equal..

The scene of the crime is Jack's Pizza Hyannis.  Some might endearingly call this a dive bar that serves Pizza, etc.. others a comfy local family restaurant.  I just call it my favorite place to eat.

I'll do a post on the pizza in the coming weeks, spoiler alert, it's great (well, at least I REALLY like it).  For this session, it's all about the Grinder.

As this is my first ever, and I didn't want to F it up, I asked one of the owners, Tim (the other is his Aunt Grace) for some advice.  No hesitation, he said Linguiça.  Let's go!

Not all of their grinders are hot, but this one is.  They come with your choice of "sauce" (I assumed it was a red marinara type???) and green peppers.  I chose both, but luckily it came without the sauce (no idea why, nor do I care).  I also added cheese (also no idea what type, mozz maybe????)  and then they baked it and I served it with fries.

Yeahhhhhh.

The bread was soft and crunchy, the cheese was melty and stringy, and the meat was super flavorful.  I was concerned that I would be burping this up all afternoon, but nope, not at all.  Just yummy and awesome.  The green peppers, which I'm not normally a fan of because of the strong flavor, worked perfectly with the rest of the "stuff".

A really great sandwich (grinder :-)), a really great lunch, and a really great restaurant run by a really great family/team.

I can’t wait for some pizza, but you'll have to....

DVA
