OK, Here we go..... I think it only fair to start with this photo as this trip to Tokyo, and the inspiration of these two guys with me in the photo, really kicked off my interest in exploring food, photographing said eats, and sharing/explaining my impressions of my experiences. So, to you David Chang and Anthony Bourdain, Cheers, and thanks. As I begin I think it only fair to explain a bit of what my purpose with this blog is. As you know, I do not participate in Facebook, and I wont go into why here, but I NEEDED a vehicle to communicate and connect with those in my life, both near and far. As the name implies, this will primarily be a blog about pizza. However, as this is mine, I will feel free to do and say as I damn well please, as it pleases me. So I hope to not offend or tiptoe too far over the line of appropriateness, but if I do, that's just too fucken bad. Enjoy. Pizza, food, life experiences, thoughts, feelings, rants, and more food. This is what you will find here. Please feel free to share and pass along to anyone you think might have an interest, as I hope you will as well. Sincerely yours, DVA

Panera Bread - Soba Noodle Bowl With Chicken

Welcome to another episode of "Your Noodle My Mouth"

Noodles.  I love noodles.

Great noodles only that is.  My pizza mantra of "any pie any time" does not carry over to this culinary category.  GREAT noodles any time is the banner of this day.
Underbelly need not apply, cause they suck.

Anywho, backtracking a few days, chillin' on the chaise, fading to brain dead staring at the tube, and I am shocked back to the here-and-now by a teaser of sorts, blasted into my brain through my eyes.

Soba

Noodles, big in flavor, healthy in your body, made from buckwheat.

My TV tells me that Panera now has Soba, and I love the idea, and I want to try.  Sure, Panera is fast food of sorts, but good tasting and reasonably healthy fast food.  Great bread, crusty and light, delicious salads and sand's and soups, made fast, made fresh.  I'm sure they aren't making the noodles themselves, at least not in-store, but I don't care.  I imagine the broth to be sumptuous and deep and hearty and I want to try it NOW!!!!!

Being on a healthy tip today, I'm enjoying water  [:-O

Under $9 for the broth bowl, add a salad, or whatever, for under $3 more.

The price is right!  And the portions are big.  Not huge, but it will fill you/me up.

HG has added the BBQ chicken salad.  For some reason she's on this BBQ sauce kick lately, sauce sauce sauce!!!... Hmmm, whazzzzz-up-w-that HG?.....

I'm adding the classic, cause, well, I'm classic.

My intent with adding the salad is really just more filler, and to get some greens.  It worked, and it worked real well to combine the soup and salad.  Someone should join these things as a standard, it could really take off....

A big flavor balsamic lightly dresses the greens and veg.

And a decently sized hunk of crusty baguette gets me ready to dig in.

The star of the show.

Atop this vessel of goodness is poached/grilled/steamed? chicken slices and smattered about is a melange of salad trimmings.  Sesame seeds adorn the peak.

The aroma is of chicken, but there is a hint of something asian as well.

My only complaint is that I wanted the soup to be hotter.  Now, please note that I like all of my food to be scorching hot, so likely the temp of this broth bowl would be plenty elevated for the average dick.

As I venture in I am pleasantly pleased by the big/bold flavor of whatever this stock is made of.  It tastes of chicken and sesame, but there is veg there as well.  Perfectly seasoned, but not overdone, not salty.

Balanced.  Texturally, flavorally, portionally.  Balanced.

It feels healthy in my body.

I am full.  I am content.  I am happy to say that I enjoyed this very much.

Panera Bread

Fast, fresh food

And please, no tipping

I like that

Eat someone's noodle
