OK, Here we go..... I think it only fair to start with this photo as this trip to Tokyo, and the inspiration of these two guys with me in the photo, really kicked off my interest in exploring food, photographing said eats, and sharing/explaining my impressions of my experiences. So, to you David Chang and Anthony Bourdain, Cheers, and thanks. As I begin I think it only fair to explain a bit of what my purpose with this blog is. As you know, I do not participate in Facebook, and I wont go into why here, but I NEEDED a vehicle to communicate and connect with those in my life, both near and far. As the name implies, this will primarily be a blog about pizza. However, as this is mine, I will feel free to do and say as I damn well please, as it pleases me. So I hope to not offend or tiptoe too far over the line of appropriateness, but if I do, that's just too fucken bad. Enjoy. Pizza, food, life experiences, thoughts, feelings, rants, and more food. This is what you will find here. Please feel free to share and pass along to anyone you think might have an interest, as I hope you will as well. Sincerely yours, DVA

Red Lobster - FlavorTown - USA

Yeah, Red Fricken Lobster

Another first for Mrs. HG.  Incredibly she's never been to a Red Lobster.  I can kind of sea it, her being from the upper east of the USA.  But still, this place does not suck when it comes to taste, flavor, aroma.  However, if you want healthy, freshness, good for you food, just keep on driving cause only on opposite day would this place fit that bill.

The draw here are the Cheddar Bay Biscuits.

Truly one of the great inventions of the 21st century.  Light, fluffy, cheesy, always delivered hot, in an endless amount.  Like the best biscuit you've ever had, blended with cheese, and inflated like a pillow.  But small, so you can enjoy a dozen or so.

But I digress.  Let's start with a beverage.  A "Top Shelf Long Island Iced Tea".  You'd, and I was, expecting to start this event off with a bang, so why not?!?!?!?

Looks very refreshing...

To help this go down we get the lobster and artichoke dip.  Looks cheesy and hot and melty.

There is grease and grease and more grease.  Am I back at Little Caesar's?!?!?

And then, an amazing creation is invented.  The Cheddar Bay Lobster Dip Bite!

Wowzer, yummerific!  And only 3,000,000,000,000,000 calories per bite!  But who's counting....

A truly boring salad was the second act.  Main event coming up.

And then we realize, hey I killed that Long Island and I don't even have the inkling of a buzzzzz.  What is the deal with that?!?!?

When we query the waiter he takes offense to the fact that I question whether there is ANY alcohol in said Top Shelf offering.  So offended was he that instead of brining us the requisite re-do, he bring us water.  Fuck-tard.  Yeah, I'll gladly drink the water instead of another virgin sweet and sour mix drink.

HG's Lobster Scampi Linguini Something looks decent, smells very buttery (which is not bad.  When you are gonna do this, do it.  It would feel incomplete to just dip your toes in).  Big lobster and pasta flavor.  Not too bad.

And then BAM!

Cajun Chicken Alfredo

I don't think I've ever had anything else here.  I love this stuff.  Cheesy and a little spicy, gooey and some chicken.  Honestly, I love this.

Lame drink, heavy greasy food, and an overload of people watching (this is like an episode of The People of Walmart, really, it's crazy in here...) has me reminiscing of my previous visits to this "establishment".  During my Grandmother's second round of chemo, every Friday night, we would have dinner together.  And every Friday night I would head out and get Red Lobster to-go.  It was our thing, how we started every weekend for months, possibly a year or so.  Who knows.  But all of these aromas, flavors, things, just things, just sitting here, has me waxing nostalgically, yearning for just one more sit with Grandma Joan, one more chat, one more meal, one more hug.

It's been a lot of years since she left us, but that doesn't make the feelings diminish, or what she meant to all of us feel any less.  She was an amazing woman, a role model, a person to emulate.  Elegant, classy, my Grandma.

I Miss You

I Love You

DVA
